Overseas Holidays

A holiday to Lesbos in the Greek Islands is being planning for October 2011.  We will be going with HF holidays and accommodation will be on a half board basis for a 7 night stay.  Walk leaders will be provided by HF.  Please see newsletter for further details

We will be visiting Pedraces in the Italian Dolomites on 30th May for a week's walking along with an opportunity to enjoy the local flora and fauna and perhaps do some painting. Bookings have now been made for this holiday with those travelling having full details.

In October 2009 the group visited New York and enjoyed some walking along with sightseeing.  In recent years we have visited Croatia, Corfu, Italy, Spain, France, Austria and the Istrian Penninsula.

11 intrepid travellers set off for New York on 24th October for a 5 night stay.  Our accommodation at The Beacon Hotel was excellent and in a great location being near to Central ParK and the Metro.  Our six hour walking tour on the first day gave us a good insight to the city and our feet didn't seem to touch the ground until we left!  Visits to The Frick, MoMA and Guggenheim were fascinating and we saw some wonderful art work.  The city and all its sites were amazing and we left feeling we must return one day!

Based in Rabac on the Istrian Penninsula, the group returned last year from a week of good walking, along with some sightseeing.  The weather was mixed but when sheltered from the wind it was warm and some members even braved a dip in the sea!  An enjoyable day was spent visiting the island of Cres by boat and we were treated to an excellent barbecue on board of mackerel and salad along with plentiful supplies of wine and the local grappa!
